The Paleomangnetism in rocks indicates the latitude of the rock at the time it became magnetized. A study of rocks magnetism conducted during the 1950s in europe by s.k. Runcorn and his associates led to an interesting discovery. The magnetic alignment in the iron-rich mineral in lava flows different ages indicated that manydifferent peleomagnetic poles existed.
